Days: 1-2 | Arrival, transfer Giraffe Manor
Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met and assisted to transfer to Giraffe manor, Nairobi. An intimate hotel situated on the outskirts of the vibrant capital of Nairobi. urrounded by 12 acres of private land, within 140 acres of indigenous forest, the iconic Giraffe Manor is famous for its resident herd of Rothschild giraffe that casually wander around the spectacular grounds. Stay in the original manor house offering six rooms: Betty, Daisy, Jock, Lynn, Marlon and the Karen Blixen Suite or the Garden Manor also offering six rooms: Salma, Edd, Arlene, Helen, Kelly and the Finch Hatton Suite. Each room enjoys views over the sanctuary and the giraffe experience offered to guests is the same regardless of which area of the house they are staying in.
Days: 2-3 | Amboseli National Park
You will transfer to the Wilson Airport for your flight to Amboseli National park. On arrival you will be met and assisted to check in for an early lunch at luxurious Amboseli Sopa Lodge - Amboseli Sopa Lodge is set in 200 acres of private land, and with a rustic charm all of its own, the lodge nestles in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro which, at almost six thousand metres, is Africa’s highest and most famous snowcapped mountain. All forms of wildlife still abound in this wilderness which continues all the way to the Amboseli National Park, an easy twenty minute drive away from the lodge.
Amboseli is also known for its magnificent elephants – a population of over 1000 elephants reside in the parks eco-system that features some of the largest in Africa. Boasting a vast and beautiful unspoiled landscape stretching from the foothills of the mighty Mount Kilimanjaro, Amboseli National Park is one of Kenya’s finest wildlife sanctuaries that you will soon discover after landing in the country and transferring to your accommodation beneath the trees. En route, you and your family will discover the majesty that is Amboseli during a guided safari drive within a kitted-out 4x4 vehicle. From giraffes picking at towering acacia trees to buffalo grazing the golden savannah plains, your first moments in Kenya will showcase the country’s rich tapestry of indigenous wildlife.
Days: 4-5 | Samburu
After breakfast, you will transfer to a local airstrip, where you will catch a flight to Samburu National Reserve. On arrival you will be received and transferred to Ashnil Samburu Camp for an early lunch. Located in the Buffalo Springs Game Reserve, with the Ewaso Nyiro River separating it from the Samburu National Reserve, this luxury tented camp is home to some very special wildlife and an abundance of bird species, all flocking here because of the springs, which provide permanent drinking water. While the size of the camp gives it and its facilities a slightly institutional feel, service is personable and efficient, tents are comfortable, and the guides on the game drives are passionate and eager to impart their knowledge to guests. Everybody, from honeymooners to families, will feel welcome here.
The rugged landscape and palm-fringed river provide seclusion from the outside world, allowing you and your family to unwind and disconnect while soaking up the sunshine. Shortly after arriving, you will join a knowledgeable ranger for a tour of the surrounding bush, following trails to river banks and grasslands where you may spot iconic beasts such as lions and leopards. Birdsong will chime in a new day this morning as the chirping grows louder from the nearby trees, signaling Samburu fluttering to life. After breakfast, your experienced ranger will pull up in a 4x4 vehicle and whisk you away into the wilderness to discover more of Samburu and Buffalo Springs Game Reserve. During your adventures across dry river beds, up gaunt hills, and along luxuriant pastures, you may chance upon Samburu’s iconic Special Five. The quintet of creatures is found nowhere else in Kenya and constitutes Beisa Oryx, Reticulated Giraffe, Somali Ostrich, long-necked Gerenuk, and Grevy’s Zebra.
Days: 6-7 | Maasai Mara Game Reserve
You will check out of your camp this morning after breakfast and transfer to the airstrip to catch your light aircraft flight to the famous Masai Mara, on arrival you will be met and transferred to Governors Camp with game drive enroute.Governors’ Camp is one of the longest established camps in the Mara and is nestled in the forests along the banks of the Mara River. The classic canvas safari tents have views over the river and the plains of the Maasai Mara and are bright and spacious with private verandahs for extended game viewing. The main tents include a bar and dining tent where guests can socialize and relax after a busy day game viewing. Activities include game drives or balloon safaris to get a different viewpoint.
The reserve’s open plains and big skies are the perfect backdrops for its rich wildlife, which includes the Big 5 and a staggering variety of birds. Twice-daily guided game drives in custom 4x4 vehicles are the main activity from Governors’. Hot air balloon safaris and Maasai cultural visits can also be arranged, adding further magical dimensions to the experience.
Day: 8 | Fly Wilson, Departure
Breakfast. You will thereafter be transferred to the airstrip for your maiden flight to Wilson airport Nairobi. Marking the end of another memorable tour. Lunch will be on own arrangements, therafter transfer to JKIA for your onward flight.
